What happens after the purchase order matters most
The purchase order starts a chain of dependencies. Visibility and ownership decide whether it becomes trust or friction.
06Turn the order into an operating plan
Confirm specifications, quantities, packaging, production window, documents, loading plan, payment milestones and decision owners. Assumptions hidden in a purchase order usually surface at the most expensive moment.
Make exceptions visible early
Delays and changes are not unusual in international supply. Silence is the problem. A simple exception rhythm — issue, impact, owner, decision date and recovery action — protects both planning and confidence.
Close the learning loop
After delivery, capture document gaps, damage, timing, stock reception and customer feedback. The second transaction should be easier because the first created a better standard, not because everyone remembers what went wrong.
01Confirm one owner for every dependency.
02Report exceptions with impact and recovery action.
03Convert first-order learning into the next SOP.
